Convergence Data is a PTC services partner for PartsLink deployments. In simplest terms, we take a PTC’s customers parts and prepare them for loading into PartsLink – we classify them, we collect attribute data and normalize the data – commodity by commodity across the entire company. Once this data is loaded into PartsLink – engineers across divisions start working together – sharing parts vs. creating new parts that are not needed. Each new part number costs a company $10k to $15k in total lifecycle costs.

For most large Windchill transformation programs – much of the value propositions comes from the parts classification – identifying duplicate parts and preventing engineering from creating unnecessary parts – by reusing preferred parts. The alternative to parts classification is to migrate the data as is – and continue to live with the same problems you have today – duplicate inventory, impossible to find a part so easier to create a new part.
