On behalf of PTC, I'm excited to announce the next chapter in its Vuforia Engine Augmented Reality SDK: a new Enterprise Plan for Vuforia Engine and the release of Vuforia Engine version 11 which features new groundbreaking technologies. Vuforia Engine has helped over 1.5 million developers create innovative augmented reality solutions for more than a decade, and the new advancements continue the efforts of PTC Vuforia to push the cutting-edge of what’s possible in augmented reality.

The New Enterprise Plan

The Enterprise Plan is a new Plan for companies who want access to the most advanced technology and unlimited target generations for large-scale deployments. It features brand new, cutting-edge technology enabling customers to utilize Advanced Model Targets (that can recognize objects from any angle) and Step Check (for AI-assisted validation) on-premises without cloud training.

On-Prem Advanced Model Targets

Our market-leading object tracking solution, Model Targets, utilizes cloud training to create custom neural networks to recognize your machines, tools, and more, from any angle.

The new On-Prem Advanced Model Targets provide the same benefits of cloud-trained Advanced Model Targets, but with no cloud training required. On-Prem Advanced Model Targets are created locally, in seconds, and allow for the tracking of complicated machinery on-premises.

On-Prem Step Check

Step Check is Vuforia’s revolutionary technology that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze inspection points to confirm they are in the required state – such as if a hose was attached securely, or a screw was tightened correctly. Step Check’s AI assisted validation is saving customers thousands of hours of employees’ time and catching mistakes much faster than before. Previously, Step Check was only available in Vuforia Expert Capture and required cloud connectivity. Now, Step Check is available as part of the Vuforia Engine Enterprise plan and represents a huge leap forward in the technology. The new version of Step Check requires no cloud training and can be set up in minutes. Just give it a sample camera image, define a focus area within the image to evaluate, and you’re ready to go.

Cloud Area Targets

Vuforia Cloud Area Targets are now available for customers looking to create Area Target experiences for large spaces. Cloud Area Targets stream the Area Target data from the cloud efficiently and in portions on demand. This means users don’t need to download the entire Area Target to begin their navigation. Now, they can get up and running in seconds and spare their data connection by downloading only the data they need as they move through the space. Plus, targets can be managed in the cloud, enabling the easy management and replacement of outdated targets, without having to update the app.

“PTC Vuforia has maintained its market leadership in Industrial Augmented Reality solutions for years, and we are proud to announce these new offerings in Vuforia Engine to further enrich the workflows of our customers,” said Ryan Orwoll, VP Product Management for PTC Vuforia. “We continue our mission of pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with the technology and have made major leaps with On-Prem Advanced Model Targets and On-Prem Step Check. We know our customers are going to love the groundbreaking advancements and we can’t wait to see the improvements in efficiency, time savings and accuracy they provide.”
