Upgrade Manager fails at Update Container Templates phase with error Unable to complete startup of all Windchill Services even though MethodServer is ready in Windchill

Description

  • Upgrade Manager fails with error Unable to complete startup of all Windchill Services even though MethodServer is ready.
  • Update container template fails with cannot connect to method server, even when method server is up
  • UpgradeManager log reports following error:

  • MethodServer log does not report any error and it show below message:

wt.method.server.startup  - MethodServer ready (in 90.183 secs).
  • Sometimes Users are unable to Login to Windchill UI with error HTTP response 503 and after refreshing the page in browser users are able to login to Windchill UI after installing the CPS03 or higher patch version.
  • Windchill shows service unavailable error after being updated to Windchill 11.1 M020 CPS03 or higher
  • Inconsistent Windchill login behavior with error HTTP Status 503 even though MethodServer is ready 
  • Sometimes windchill wt.auth.Authentication command works and sometimes same command fails with error java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: 
http://<WindchillURL>/Windchill/servlet/WindchillAuthGW/wt.httpgw.HTTPAuthentication/login
  • Intermittent SERVLET ENGINE NOT RESPONDING errors also shown in the server status page
  • After update to the CPS03 or higher HTTP 503 error occurs in HttpServer/logs/access.log when users access to Windchill
  • URL http://<hostname>/Windchill/wtcore/test/dynAnon.jsp is not accessible
