Description
- Installation of Microsoft Windows Security Patch KB3058515 prevents the installation of the Creo View Version Checker ActiveX Plug-in (pvvercheck_ie.ocx)
- Issue symptoms vary depending on the Creo View client release and Internet Explorer release combinations and configuration:
- Internet Explorer prompts to install the Creo View Version Checker add-on repeatedly appears at the foot of the window:
This website wants to install the following add-on: 'pvvercheck_ie.cab' from 'PTC Inc.'.

- Selecting Install does not successfully install the add-on and the cycle continues
- Windows User Account Control may also launch a dialog in the console view, prompting to make changes to the system:
Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?
Program name: pvercheck_ie.cab
Program name: pvercheck_ie.cab

- Selecting Yes to install the ActiveX plug-in does not result in successful installation
- The ActiveX control (pvvercheck_ie.ocx) appears to have been installed (no errors) but the the same installation cycle is repeated every time the user launches Creo View:
- Thumbnail Viewer
- Open in Creo View
- Dynamic CAD and Part Structure Visualization
- etc.
- Note: This issue does not prevent Creo View from launching and displaying the expected thumbnail or viewable content
